Stiv Hey is part of new wave of dj/producers coming out of Italy. He has released numerous tracks in labels such as SCI+TEC, Loose Records, Black Swan Recordings among others we is starting to make a big presence in the underground techno scene. We asked him a few questions to know more about him and future plans.

How did you started in the electronic music scene?

Everything started on my 18th birthday night when a friend invited me to Amnesia Milano and Sven Vath was playing. I will never forget that night, the feelings I felt were so strong that I’m still trying to reach that connection everyday of my life. I was really touched inside by the music, that night I discovered what is making my hearth vibrate.

How was your first gig as a DJ? Do you remember where it was?

Of course I remember it, this is a very special memory. 🙂 It happened in 2009, in a little town near Milano. Back in the days I was a very young and strong promoter, so with my team we sold a lot of tickets for that night. Basically I got hundreds of “ultras” to the club to support me LOL they were all crazy about me DJ-ing, all my friends and people I knew were there. It was my first gig, so they all came down and were so excited. Everyone in the club was waiting for me. I remember the pressure I was feeling…Amazing! Around the middle of the night the DJ before me was playing, and the people were singing my name so loud that the club owner needed to stop his set and let me play 30 mins before my set time! It was really intense. Big love to all my friends who are still supporting me since that day.

So far what is the track that you are most proud of as a producer?

The track I’m most proud as a producer is always the last one I’ve done (no jokes here!). My learning process is still going, very fast, I’m developing and upgrading my sound and knowledge every day, literally every day, I never miss one. So I keep adding new instruments and techniques in every new track, the results are having my best track always being the last one I wrote.

What made you relocate to Barcelona?

Connections! Back to my little town in Italy I created the perfect environment for the music making life, a great studio, healthy lifestyle, and nice friends, but I started to experience the limit of not being connected enough. A DJ career is made of music and connections, and only one side of it is not enough to succeed. So I decided to relocate myself in Barcelona (the best city to live in for a techno producer at the moment, in my opinion). I got a big upgrade from the moment I moved here. Barcelona is the perfect city!

How’s the underground electronic scene in Italy?

Italian underground scene is very good! We have one of the most energetic and passionate crowds. The techno people in Italy are really into it, and many great huge festivals are happening in Italy. Every year we have more and more open air events, and I see the scene growing fast and nicely.

How did you see the current state of Techno in Europe?

The current state of techno in Europe is EXPLODING! It’s really getting bigger year after year with more producers, more DJ’s, more clubs, more festivals, more fans, more ravers. I LOVE what is happening, we’ve all been working hard for this in the past years, EXPAND our movement!

Can you tell us about you upcoming events in title Memories that
you are developing?

“Memories” is our brand of events. We are launching it soon with some parties in Bulgaria, Romania, UK, Mexico and a few Asian countries. The concept behind this event is very unique and a game changer in the party world. I can’t say too much yet, get ready for a proper launch of “Memories” soon.

Any other future projects?

A LOT! My “Stiv Hey” on tour project is coming back very soon, from the beginning of October you will find me in Europe, Asia and America’s (dates will be revealed soon). Music wise I’m hyper-productive and I‘m making A LOT of new music, so expect a full release schedule for 2018. I’m also working on two different B2B projects, one with Leon and another with Paride Saraceni, see you soon on the dancefloor!
