In the month of July there was mainly 3 electronic music festivals in the Martimes (Mostly in the province of New Brunswick) we even made an article about it (click on link here to read it). The final festival of the month was Future Forest, and luckily I was able to be there. Out of all the years that I have attended, this year’s festival was slightly different since they had just moved to a new location, their website offered sneak peeks through pictures and videos. Having said that, the festival was its best yet, here are my reasons why:

First of all, the music was on point as always. There were 3 stages that brought you all sorts of flavors of electronic music from jacked house to psy-trance, it was all there. The lineup was stacked with a diversity of talent, but unfortunately it was impossible to catch all the acts. But what I definitely have to highlight here is the impeccable sound quality, which was provided by PK Sound.  They made a huge difference, hopefully they will continue to work with Future Forest, since it brought a totally different vibe to the festival.

The stages were kept the same, with the traditional ‘Mushroom’, ‘Prism’ and ‘Nest’. They were all just so beautiful; incredibly colorful yet simple and as nighttime fell, with the help of the visuals, you would feel as though you have been transported to completely different dimension, especially as the music and dancing took off at the ‘Prism’ and ‘Mushroom’ stage. The ‘Nest’ stage is right next to the river which gave off a tranquil and comforting vibe–this stage is where you’d find people mostly just relaxing, although some would still dance, near the water.

The other thing that caught my attention was the art placed around the festival. There was a lot of painters doing very cool ‘futuristic’ type art. I regret not buying any of it. There was quite a few vendors selling a lot of cool stuff too. It’s pretty neat how Future Forest is bringing all these elements together; where you can find cool things, meet cool new people and hear loads of incredible music.

With this being their  5th year, Future Forest Fest has become the electronic music festival of Atlantic Canada.  From this point on it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a major tourist attraction for the province of New Brunswick since I met people from as far as Sweden (Yes, Sweden) that came to experience this festival.  With this new venue their possibilities just keep rising. If they keep up the momentum, offering the same magic that it has been year after year, then you would be a fool not to go next year.
